Dev Log — A New Path Forward + Discord Launch
Hey everyone,
It’s been a bit since the last update, and I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about what I want this project to be — and more importantly, what I can realistically make without burning out.
The old plan? It’s officially retired. The pirate survival idea was fun, but the scope was creeping way beyond what’s manageable for me right now. I’ve decided to hard-pivot to something that’s still deeply connected to the Eclipse Hollow world, but smaller, more focused, and something I can actually finish while still making it fun (with or without adult content).
The New Direction
The new game is now called Eclipse Hollow: Veilwalker.
Instead of a big pirate open world, this will be a small-scale survival game where you repair a ruined cabin in the wilderness, gather resources, and work to heal a dying world.
It’s inspired by cozy-but-challenging survival titles like Among Trees, Vintage Story, and Force of Nature, but with the unique lore, atmosphere, and mystery of Eclipse Hollow woven through it.
You’ll still have hunger, thirst, and temperature survival systems — but the focus is on progression, rebuilding, and uncovering the story piece by piece.
What’s Done So Far
Even with the pivot, a lot of the core systems are already functional:
✅ Hunger, thirst, and health stats are working
✅ Pause menu and simple options menu
✅ Time tracking system (day/night cycle foundation)
✅ Early money system (may or may not stay in MVP)
✅ Opening area blocked out for testing
Some systems were built early and might not appear in the MVP immediately, but they’ll help speed things up later.
What’s Next
Right now, my short-term focus is:

Laying out the first playable area

Implementing basic crafting (≤10 recipes for MVP)

Creating the ruined cabin model and repair system

Getting enough in place for a small playable demo

This will be the best place to follow development, give feedback, and help me shape the game as it grows — especially in a time when game development is facing so much censorship and other nonsense that makes it harder for indie devs to make what they want.
