Dev Log — Chopping, Mining, and Building the First Biomes
Hey everyone,
Time for another progress update! I’ve been putting in a lot of work on the core systems and the first playable areas of the game, so here’s where things stand.
---
First Biome Blockout
I’ve finished blocking out most of the first biome and even part of the Dark Woods. Getting a much clearer idea of how players will move through the early game — from the safer starting zones to the more dangerous areas.
---
Resource Harvesting
You can now chop down trees, mine rocks, and gather ores. These systems are still early, but they’re functional enough to test how resource progression will feel.
---
Hotbar & Items
The hotbar is now fully working — though I’ll admit I haven’t stress-tested it enough to guarantee it’s bug-free just yet. Items can be swapped, and used, without too much fuss.
---
Dialog System
I’ve added a functional dialog system to help deliver story moments and NPC interactions. It’s simple right now but will be expanded with branching options later.
---
Next Up
Here’s what I’m about to dive into:
- Adding crafting (with temporary placeholder items to start)
- Reworking health and stamina for a better balance between realism and fun
- Possibly starting the writing for the game’s intro sequence
If all goes well, we’ll be moving toward a real playable loop soon.
---
That’s it for now. As always, I’m building this in a way that can be fun with or without adult content, so the core game experience comes first. I’ll post more clips as soon as i have more working
